#Sigma7 culminates in an exciting final at The University of Essex

The 2017 #Sigma7 final saw 5 schools compete at The University of Essex to become the first winners of this competition.

Over the past 5 weeks pupils from schools across The Sigma Trust have been competing among themselves to develop world changing ideas, creating posters, prototypes, jingles and stories before their schools picked their finalists.

We were incredibly impressed with the standard of the finalists and the enthusiasm and ideas shown by all the teams. The final was won by Harwich and Dovercourt High School with their amazing idea of the Bug Band.

David Harkin, CEO of 7billionideas, said:

“This was our first year of delivering the #Sigma7 competition and we were blown away by the standard of ideas that were presented and the dedication of the schools and students in developing these ideas. Every student which came along to the University today, had gone above and beyond to demonstrate their level of creativity to the judges. This part of the country has no concerns about the next generation of entrepreneurs.”

Simon Parkinson, Director of Learning at St Helena School added:

“#Sigma7 has quickly become  one of the highlights of 2017 for our school. It was truly exciting  to see the ideas that the students came up with and I am impressed to see them grow in confidence delivering their presentations. We are delighted to have started our partnership with 7billionideas and are looking forward to 2018 already and building on the success of this years competition.”
