#BelieveBig2018 (Primary Schools) sees 7billionideas and Brooke Western Trust extend their partnership together

#BelieveBig2018 (Primary Schools) saw 7billionideas extend their partnership with Brooke Western Trust after a successful competition amongst their secondary schools earlier in the year. In May 2018, 7billionideas visited all the primary schools of Brooke Western Trust to launch our ideas competition, #BelieveBig2018 (Primary Schools). Designed to encourage students to generate, develop and then articulate their ideas which they feel could change the world, #BelieveBig2018 (Primary Schools) will see the winning idea turned into a short children’s book.  This week we had the conclusion of the final, held at Rockingham Speedway in Corby.

Students took part in warm up activities before preparing their stalls to showcase their innovative ideas to the judges.

After much deliberation, the judges awarded certificates to the following schools for best stall, model and poster, before announcing 3rd, 2nd and 1st place for the overall winner of #BelieveBig2018 (Primary Schools):

Best Stall: Beanfield – developed an in-car toilet.

Best Poster: Beanfield – a robot pet for people with allergies.

Best Model: The Legendary team – the Stain Away foldable portable washing machine for camping or caravanning.

3rd Place: Oakvale Primary, a translation machine to make friends more easily.

2nd Place: Gretton Primary, an innovative automated wardrobe that selects clothes and accessories at the touch of a button.

1st Place: Compass Primary, the Mattsie, a onesie with an inbuilt mattress.

A big well done to Compass Primary, whose idea, the Mattsie, would see a user be able to don a onesie with a built in mattress that would allow the user to sleep anywhere. We are very excited to see this turned in to a book.

David Harin, CEO of 7billionideas said:

“We were delighted earlier in the year at such a successful start to our partnership with the Brooke Western Trust to supporting their Ambition for All campaign. We have been beyond impressed with the level of creativity and engagement from the students of Brooke Western Trust schools both in the Primary and Secondary competitions. Key Stage 2 students have worked on their ideas that could change the world and the final showcased the incredibly diverse set of inventions. A huge thank you to all the students and teachers of the Trust who have made these first competitions such a success.”

John Henrys, Brooke Weston Trust’s Head of Analytics, System Performance and Innovation said:

“I genuinely didn’t think it was possible to have so much creativity in one room and all of the judges will agree that what we have seen is nothing short of awesome. Every single idea was superb, they have been so innovative and creative.”

A huge thank you must be said to Rockingham Speedway, our hosts for the final. A big well done to every student that participated in the competition and all the teachers who have helped make it a reality in their schools. 7billionideas and Brooke Western Trust can’t wait to work with you in 2019 to see what ideas you generate next year!
