7billionideas CEO heads back to St George’s Primary and his old classroom!

On 10th November, David Harkin (7billionideas CEO) heads back to his old primary school to run a ‘World Changing IDEAS’ Day, nearly two decades since he left the school. What’s incredibly exciting is that his head teacher Mr. David Jones will be there to welcome David and the 7billionideas team as he still heads up the ship at this wonderful primary school in the heart of Kent.

St George’s Church of England Primary School is situated in this historic village of Wrotham. The school believes that children should live and learn in a happy, secure and stimulating environment. a place where they are valued as individuals, encouraged to grow in self–esteem and given the opportunities they deserve to reach their potential. Since David left the school in 1997, it’s grown in strength in pupil numbers and performance.

David Harkin from 7billionideas said ‘I can’t wait to go back into St George’s and work with the pupils again. I’ve got such fond memories of my time at that school from working with Mrs. Williams in the classroom, to playing cricket for the school at local competitions to even being the front end of daisy the cow in the Christmas play! It will be great to go back and work with the students on one our days, with this year being based on the theme sustainability. We will be challenging and working with the students on ideas on how we can make the planet more sustainable. Students will be asked to make posters, models, and presentations to help articulate their ideas. It will be a pleasure to be back in the school and of course see Mr. Jones again who I owe a lifetime of thanks for helping me in a school year which was critical to my progress.’

Mr. David Jones, Headteacher said “I always knew that David had the skills and talents to succeed in life so he has become a role model for all our pupils to see that with passion and dedication we all can succeed in life. So we are once again delighted that David and his enthusiastic team, from 7billionideas, are returning to his old primary school St. George’s in Wrotham for another day of wonderment and excitement.  After last year’s visits we had weeks of pupils coming up with wonderful ideas to try out and we have only now exhausted their energies! I am sure that this year will be just the same.”

We can’t wait until we get back into the school and inspire this generation of students at St George’s to think big and dream big about the possibility of their ideas and see if we can do our bit to make the world sustainable!
