7billionideas and Brooke Weston Trust launch #BelieveBig2019

7billionideas is delighted to enter into a second year of partnership with the Brooke Weston Trust. The move follows the hugely successful completion of #BELIEVEBIG2018 last year and will once again pitch teams of pupils against each other to come up a potentially world changing idea.

The #BELIEVEBIG2019 roadshow saw a series of inspirational assemblies delivered by 7billionideas teams at secondary schools in the region which comprised Kettering Science Academy, Corby Technical School, Brooke Weston Academy and Corby Business Academy. Now the work begins as pupils at the five schools work together to develop an idea that will inspire friends and teachers. Three teams from each of the schools will go forward to a prestigious Finals Day on the 3rd of April, 2019 at the events centre, Corby Cube, where they will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a top team of judges. A second competition roadshow for primary schools within the Trust will begin in June this year.

John Henrys, Head of Analytics, Systems Performance and Innovation at Brooke Weston Trust, commented: “Principals from the Trust were unanimous in their decision for a repeat competition in 2019. The students’ enjoyment last year was obvious and their engagement throughout the process was fantastic. The organisation from the 7billionideas team, both this year and last has been first class.”

John Henrys is clear about the benefits to all who participate in the #BELIEVEBIG competitions. “The pupils’ confidence, presentation skills and creativity have all been challenged and developed through this process and we look forward to seeing similar outcomes this year. Projects like this engage students in a different way to normal classroom based lessons. Opportunities like this develop our students’ character and develop a curiosity that transfers into so many different areas of their life. It is it is about having ambition for all of our students.”

7billionideas CEO, David Harkin commented: “We are delighted to be working once again with the progressive Brooke Weston Trust and its wonderful range of creative students. Last year, they proved beyond doubt that they can ‘Think Big, Dream Big’ and we can’t wait to see what ideas the students come up with as #BELIEVEBIG2019 unfolds!”
