7billionideas judges the #ROAR2017 final for the Lions Clubs International

This week 7billionideas, in conjunction with the International Voluntary Service Organisation, Lions Clubs International, judged the final of #ROAR2017.

Over the past 5 weeks pupils have been encouraged to ‘roar’ out their world changing ideas, they’ve created posters, prototypes, jingles and stories and their schools have selected their winning ideas. #ROAR2017 is fully funded by Lions Clubs of the South East of England and is open to Key Stage 2 pupils (children aged 7-11) across the South East.

30 schools have taken part in this year’s competition, with 20 finalists gathering at Wakehurst Place to take part in the 2017 final. There was a fantastic atmosphere as the teams gathered to present their ideas to their peers and the judges. The standard of ideas and their presentations was exceptionally high and there was evident pride in the room of all those involved. We were incredibly impressed with the winning idea, Trash to Treasure, from Blackboys School.

David Harkin, CEO of 7billionideas, said:

“We are very delighted to have worked with the Lions Clubs of the South East of England on #ROAR17. We were incredibly impressed with the standard of the entries this year and the confidential and enthusiasm the pupils exhibited during the finals day. Our collaboration with the Lions is one of the highlights of our year and we are excited about our future together.”

David Skinner of Lions Clubs International added:

“Lions are very much enjoying working with our partners 7billionideas. Together we are able to provide schoolchildren with a highly innovative, educational and fun competition while demonstrating, through Lions Lifeskills, how we can help schools deliver their personal, social and health education curriculum.”
