7billionideas launches first partnership in Indonesia with British School of Jakarta

7billionIdeas is delighted to announce a momentous collaboration with British School Jakarta (BSJ) that will see children from reception age up to 18 unlock their entrepreneurial DNA.

The new partnership places 7billionIdeas CEO David Harkin in the position of the School’s Director of Entrepreneurship, as well as signalling the introduction of the company’s exciting innovation platform, Spark.

David and his team will be working closely with all pupils across the world-famous IB school in a range of initiatives including presentations and project work, competitions and activity days. The pupils will be placed them in real-life business situations in which they will learn how to harness and develop their own ideas, judgement and resilience, all vital skills if they are and be prepared to be entrepreneurs.

The move places BSJ on the world-map as a leading international school working on preparing their pupils for an entrepreneurial future. At a time when an Ambitions Awards survey found that 77% of 11-18 year olds would like to start their own business at some point, it’s never been more timely for schools to get involved. The role also encompasses working with parents and the local community in social entrepreneurship initiatives.

As well as the entrepreneurial partnership, 7BillionIdeas will also launch its innovation platform, Spark, an employee engagement platform that will encourage BSJ teachers and staff to use their unique skills and understanding of their school and teaching to drive innovation. David explains: ‘Spark seeks to understand a school’s most valuable asset, its staff, by empowering them to be a crucial part of its future.Spark embraces the concept of marginal gains in a school and puts its staff at the heart of change. It will be very exciting to see the effects of Spark at BSJ.’

David Butcher, Principal of BSJ said: “We are delighted to be working with 7BillionIdeas on a range of projects to unlock potential and prepare our pupils’ for leadership opportunities in the business world. We are also excited to launch Spark and to engage employees in a formal programme to drive innovation across the whole school. Our mantra at BSJ is #morethanaschool and I know that our partnership with 7BillionIdeas will engage our community and take us to the next and much needed level in international education. We are proud and excited to be the first school in Indonesia to be working with 7BillionIdeas.
