7billionideas launches #Sigma7 across North East Essex

Next week, 7billionideas, in conjunction with the Multi Academy Sigma Trust, launches a brand new competition in North East Essex. #Sigma7 is aimed at Year 7 pupils at schools under the Sigma Trust umbrella. Pupils will be encouraged to come up with world changing ideas, creating posters, prototypes, jingles and stories over a five week period with the schools selecting a winning team to compete in the December final.

Five schools are taking part in this year’s competition, all of whom are receiving a roadshow assembly from 7billionideas over the coming week. The students will be inspired to think big and dream big about the possibility of their ideas encouraging them to use their imaginations and creativity to make a difference.

Simon Parkinson, Sigma 7 Trust Leader and Director of Learning at St Helena School, said:

“#Sigma7 is a great opportunity for pupils across the Sigma 7 Trust to collaborate and come up with some world changing ideas. I am looking forward to seeing our pupils channel their creativity, increase in confidence and above all enjoy this unique opportunity. This is a fantastic project for this age group as they continue to complete their transition from primary school to secondary school.”

David Harkin, CEO of 7billionideas, said:

“#Sigma7 is an exciting new opportunity for both the schools within the Sigma Trust and 7billionideas. This competition will give Year 7 pupils an opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills. These skills will be of benefit throughout their time at school and beyond. We want to help the children build their confidence and develop their imaginations whilst working with their peers. As always, we are genuinely excited to see what type of ideas the students come up with and turn the winning idea into a children’s book.”
